Lok Kawi Wildlife Park

We just arrived from visiting the Lok Kawi Wildlife Park, about 25 KM from Kota Kinabalu. My children felt happy to see all the animals there.

The Lok Kawi Wildlife Park is run by Sabah Wildlife Department under the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Environment. The park covers about 280 acres of land include the Botanical Site managed by Sabah Department. At the moment, the Park has more than 100 species of mamals including birds, which are kept in captivity. On the Botanical side, there is a trail which leads to the Herbal and Ginger Garden. You may even catch a glimpse of the ever famous Pitcher plant (Nepenthes sp.).

Tamu Tamparuli

'Tamu' Tamparuli[ Location : Tuaran ]

I myself born at Tamparuli Town.

Welcome to Tamparuli - home of the famous ‘Jambatan Tamparuli', a favourite folk song of the Kadazandusun people of Sabah which tells of a hanging bridge and the story a young girl who accidentally loses her shoe while crossing. Located some 42km from Kota Kinabalu, Tamparuli holds its weekly tamu (market) every Wednesday in the town centre.

Like most 'tamu' or also call open market, this is the best place to watch the local folks mingle as they do business. Fresh produce is often on display, as well as a variety of unique delicacies such as bambangan (a sour mango-like fruit preserved in jars and often served to complement main meals) and rice wine, known as tapai or lihing. You can find just about anything here, from clothing to livestock - so it's sure to be a shopping experience like no other!

Sipadan Island

One of The Most Popular in Sabah, The Sipadan Island[ Location : Semporna ]

Sipadan island internationally famous island that lies five degrees north of the equator in Sulawesi Sea (Celebes Sea). Sipadan is an oceanic island and was formed by living corals growing on top of an extinct undersea volcano, which rises 600m from the seabed. The geographic position of Sipadan puts it in the centre of the richest marine habitat in the world, the heart of the Indo-Pacific basin. The turtle tomb, an underwater limestone cave with labyrinth of tunnels and chambers that contain many skeletal remains of turtles makes another unique feature to divers visiting to Sipadan.
